Colorado Boulevard winds behind them, past the intersection with Annandale Boulevard (now Figueroa), seen at the edge of the door, across the bridge and up the hill heading for the Annandale Country Club, Sternberger’s Restaurant, and the Colorado Street Bridge. “Among her peers, the bird fanciers and ornithologists, she gained fame with the California Audubon Society where she first served as secretary for seven years (beginning in 1921). High spot of her official career came in 1953 when she was named president of the California Audubon Society and really made things happen.
